The way the sand skims across the ground on a windy day looks like heat rising over pavement in summer [like in the last shot of the film Dazed and Confused].
The water and the shady parts of the sand both looked turquoise in the fading light.
Surfers don't smile or wave when you pass them when they are walking along the beach in the opposite direction.
Lovely ladies with straw hats which they are holding on their heads so they don't blow away do [smile and wave].
I'm coming down with something.
When walking into the wind it's hard to tell if you're eyes are watering from the wind or if you're sad and crying.
Couples do huddle under blankets with the setting sun on autumn afternoons on the beach in Avalon.
It can be lonely here on one's own off-season.

Figuring Things Out In Avalon, NJ
So, I just had the thought I should be writing in this more often than once a year.
This week I've been thinking about how I wrote journal after journal when I was living in Europe for seven months when I was 21. Have things changed so much that where I travel now is not interesting to me? Am I too jaded to find the noteworthy in my daily life? Well, I am going to attempt to write in here and see what I'm untangling at the moment... mostly been living in a mental world, mapped out in my consciousness and not shared with others.
I'm in Avalon, NJ on a weekend solo retreat (just started a couple hours ago when Mom and Dad left the house).
I have been sitting in front of the computer for seven hours. Is "computer stuff" all that is interesting to me these days? Today I was trying to figure out Spotify. Sort of figured it out, sort of didn't.
I have to go outside.
I am going to go outside and go for a walk on the beach.
I will write back when I return to see if I figured anything out.

Shaman[ista]
Emerald giving
You left and didn't look back
Broken string of pearls
Your throat and third eye
Harmonica and rattle
I felt it loosen
Sparkle in your eye
I felt the joy of your fire
Mystery untold
